How to Install Unpublished Extensions

If an extension is not yet available on the Chrome Web Store, you can install it manually in Developer Mode.

📋Installation Steps:

  1. 1Download the extension folder or clone the GitHub repository to your computer
  2. 2Open Chrome and navigate to chrome://extensions/
  3. 3Enable 'Developer mode' by clicking the toggle in the top right corner
  4. 4Click 'Load unpacked' button
  5. 5Select the folder containing the extension files (must have manifest.json)
  6. 6The extension is now installed! You should see it in your extensions list

⚠️Important Notes:

  • •Unpublished extensions won't auto-update. You'll need to manually update them
  • •Chrome may show warnings for unpacked extensions - this is normal
  • •Most browsers (Edge, Brave, Opera) also support unpacked extensions using the same process
